The proverb "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is sound advice. After all, an apple is the ideal snack for all those who pay close attention to their health.

Apples are composed of up to 85% water and are, therefore, excellent thirst quenchers. They contain hardly any fats or calories. Instead, they’re made up of valuable ingredients such as vitamins, minerals and secondary plant substances.

The fructose they contain reaches the muscles directly and is immediately converted into energy. So an apple is a healthy source of energy that’s also packed with vitamins. Depending on the variety, degree of ripeness, time of harvest and maturation, an apple contains an average of 12 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams. This means that one apple already covers 15% of the daily requirement.
Did you know: since most of the vitamins are located directly under the peel, you should definitely eat this too!
